Here’s a quick quide to some of the things you should think about when it comes to disocunt auto insurance.
1. How is your driving?
Getting a ticket, being responsible for an accident, and of course a major citation such as DUI/DWI will increase your rates, and sometimes by quite a bit.
2. What exactly can you use to get a discount?
Every carrier is different when it comes to discount auto insurance; some offer discounts for various things while others do not.
Common questions you may want to ask yourself before calling -
- How old are you?
- Do you use anti-theft devices such as an alarm or “the Club” ?
- Are you a member of any civic organizations like AARP?
- Are you a military veteran?
- Do you drive fewer miles such as with a second car that is only used for errands or for persons who work from their home?
- Do you have additional or supplemental medical insurance?
- Are you a non-smoker?
- Do you always wear a seatbelt?
- Can you insure more than one vehicle with the carrier?
- Can you add another insurance policy such as renter’s insurance or homeowner’s insurance?
